OLD NEWS

I apologize for the late news but summer was a bit busy and it was difficult to get organized enough to get a newsletter out.

Rita O’Brien daughter-in-law has had a successful kidney transplant.  We wish her good health.

On May 13th, Sue Crocket, Eloise Betters, Rita O’Brien, Maude DiPietro, Mary Craigs, and Ella Couch attended Ora Bushley’s husband’s funeral.  Our condolences go out to Ora.

Maude DiPietro has had some surgery, which she is recovering well from.

Marge Blanchard also has had surgery and doing well.

Donna Brewer is undergoing chemotherapy and has been quite ill.  If anyone wants her address, contact Anne White.

Cookie and Wally Grant entertained their children and grandchildren over the 4th of July.

The September breakfast was attended by  Thelma Tiffany, Sue Crocket, Eloise Betters, Ella Couch, Averill Tibbets, Rita O’Brien, Anne White, and Irene Koski.

HELP

I believe it is that time of year for the election of new officers.  If there is anyone interested or if you would like to nominate someone for the positions, please submit them to Anne White.  Elections will take place at our December meeting.

SET YOUR CALENDAR

Fall is here again and it is time to think ahead to the holidays.  Our next meeting will be November 1st at 8:30 am for a Harvest Breakfast at Brighton in the Boardroom.  If anyone needs a ride, please contact one of the officers.

Our Christmas get together will be on Saturday, December 6th. Place to be announced.

Our fall luncheon meeting was held on September 6, 2003 at the Village Cafe on Newbury Street in Portland.  The guest speaker was Robin Chibroski, from the Ronald McDonald House in Portland.  For those of you who drink soda from a can, please save the tabs off the cans and bring them any of our meetings.  The Ronald McDonald House raises money by sending them to aluminum recycle plant.  Robin invited all to come and take a tour of the house and if interested volunteer.  They have three hour shifts and various jobs.  A full orientation program is offered.  A donation of $150 was given from the alumni group.

BREAKFAST AT FRIENDLY’S

Just a reminder that every first Wednesday of the month a group meets at Friendly’s for breakfast at nine o’clock.  If you have any questions, you may contact Eloise Betters at 77 2-3692.

BIRTHDAY WISHES

Birthday wishes go out to Ella Couch who is celebrating her 80th birthday on October 24th.  Big celebrations are in the works with relatives coming from England.  Have a great day, Ella.

Also birthday wishes go out to Dr.’s John Thompson and Steve Gefvert who celebrated their big days at a barn dance given by Rosie Powers.  A good time was had by all.

Commemorative Stone

The Osteopathic Heritage Fund advisory committee is currently working on the final design of a stone (rock) that will be placed on the front lawn of the Brighton Facility.  This will be a testimonial to the years of service the Osteopathic Hospital of Maine has provided to the community.
