The following are excerpts taken from a book I found in the MMC library, which originally came from the BMC library.  It is titled "Osteopathic Medicine:  Past, Present, and Future."  It is the results of a conference sponsored by the Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation, which took place in Dallas, Texas, March 10-12, 1995.  The Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation is a private philanthropy dedicated to improving the health of individuals and the public.  Since its establishment in 1930, the Foundation has focused its support principally on projects and conferences designed to enhance the education of health professionals, especially physicians.

If you see any strange spellings or characters in the following article, it is because I scanned the pages and converted them to text using OCR (Optical Character Recognition).  Often times this technology is less than 100% accurate. Words like 'this' may appear as 'tliis' or 'but' may become '@ut' and so forth.
